Homework is an important factor in student success in math. Students need to practice skills and concepts outside of class. Homework is assigned almost every night, and sometimes on the weekend. Students will not receive a grade for homework. However, homework is monitored and students earn "credits". These can make a difference between having a 78 at the end of the semester or earning "credit" towards a B.
More importantly, those who regularly complete homework correctly and bring questions to class, will most likely be rewarded with satisfactory weekly quiz grades and enter high school with a solid foundation in math concepts.
Students should always review notes for the week. Assignments will prepare them for weekly quizzes usually scheduled for Monday. Sometimes all students are given a second chance to show that they have learned a concept or have retained their learning, so a "retest" is given on Friday following daily review of the specific standard. Students are always made aware of retests and weekly assessments.
